Hearing Loss Update

Well, crap! Went back to the ENT for testing and exam and he results were identical to the first test. So deaf in the left and tinnitus for life. Ah well. Could be much worse, so I will learn to cope.

WHAT?

Get used to hearing that from me as on Monday of last week I have experienced SUDDEN and TOTAL HEARING LOSS in my left ear.

I believe it was from an incident at the dentist office that morning. I was in the chair with my head below my feet with two sets of hands in my mouth, nitrous, a water sprayer and suction device, a drill, mirror, jaw clamp and a spacer to keep my mouth from closing anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. Choking, gagging, restrained by the Dr. and his assistant, straining to talk or relax, neither of which could I do. 30 minutes later: High pitch squeal in left ear, 100% hearing loos, vertigo, nausea, vomit. Awesome.

Went to an ENT Wednesday and got the bad news confirmed. Back to follow up to see if there is any improvement on Dec. 2. Doc says it could be damage from the straining or could be a case of sh!t happens.

As of Nov.22 I'm not dizzy, naseaus or vomiting anymore, but there is no improvement in my hearing. Apparently sudden hearing loss is pretty tricky and the outlook is grim. I just want the tinnitus to stop. wll keep you updated. Wish me luck and say a prayer!

Cam Robs Cradle...

Andrea's friend Lucie from Siemens came over for dinner with her 6 week old baby girl, Aneshka. Aneshka's dad is serving in Iraq, so we will have to wait to meet him. Cam and Aneshka are the victims of an arranged marriage by thier mommys! Cam will be required to speak Czech, too! He snuck a touch in last night, but Lucie says hands off for another 18 years.


In an unrelated dinner date, Cam ate oatmeal at Grandma and Grandpa Powers'.

Cambo's Halloween...

Cam had a good time trick or treating out in Garland with his cousins and grandparents this year. Cam was a punk rocker. Not one of those Sid Vicious wanna-be over the top punks, but more like a Joe Strummer of The Clash kind of punker. He donated his candy to Daddy.

Steady...

Cambo's not quite sitting up on his own, but he's staying there when we sit him up. A mother I saw at Mallorie Powers' soccer game this weekend said that the 6th through 8th months are really nice because kids can sit up and grab and entertain themselves, but are not yet mobile. So we're supposed to really enjoy these months. Mommy already has safety cushions for some furniture so we can start the process. Here's some pics of WC...

He's a connoisseur of ear infections. He's tried out 3 already in his young life and also had some high fevers recently. It's weird giving him medicine, but what are ya gonna do. Hopefully he starts feeling better soon because it's hard for Me and Andy to focus on life when we know he's not feeling great.

Cam parties hard, makes parents proud...

Last night was my companies 30th Anniversary party at Jazz Cafe in Fort Worth. Cam attended and had a great time. I was worried about overloading his senses, but he was curious and even cracked a few smiles. Towards the end of the night, the party goers went inside to watch the debate so Cam, Andy and I got about a 3 song private show before calling it a night.

Back from vacation...

OK, so I don't want to call it a vacation. Let's call it a trip because vacations aren't supposed to be that much work! We took a trip to Upper MI with Cam and Sadie to see Andrea's parents, Cam's Great Grandmother Julia, and our friends.

Mine and Henry Powers' (Andrea's Dad) FJs atop Gobbler's Knob in Marquette county. The super yooper Kenneth Liubakka was Henry's copilot and the indescribable Ron "the Coyote" Ryoti was with me.


Sadie always enjoys. I wish I had a waterfall in my backyard!

A week before vacation!

We are making the long journey to the U.P. again this year. Me, Andy, Cam and Sadie all crammed in and road trippin'. Gonna see Andy's family and their friends who live in Northern MI. Hopefully we will have lots to post when we get back. Until then...

Cam and Fam are doing well, although we are avoiding going outside between the hours of 5am and 12 midnight. Cam is standing upright with Daddy's help and loving it. He's got a big tongue and sticks it out at Mommy alot. We think he learned this from his schoolmate Martin, who is a little older than Cam and has great influence. He loves his cousins and they love to entertain him.

Sorry its been a while since the last posting. I'm slacking trying to keep up with everything. All is well in the house of Panda and the cub is growing. Here are some pics to prove it! My first Father's day was full of pride, and I get a good feeling when I see other dads with kiddos now. We are very lucky to have WC, and wont take his presence for granted. He's pretty powerful, you know. Anyway here's some pics...
